Ryan VandenBussche win by KO Fun

When the news hi-lite clip cuts in, we see that Nick Kypreos and Ryan VandenBussche are locked in a fierce battle in close quarters.

Vandy lands a series of fast, hard lefts. The punches look like they hurt and stung Kypreos, as he buries his head against Vandy's chest to keep his face out of the way. Kypreos is already bleeding here, because he leaves some bloodstains on Vandy's white sweater at this juncture.

The two scrappers grapple. It looks like the officials want to come in and stop it, and they ask Kypreos if he wants them to stop it. Kypreos responds by prying off Ryan's helmet. Nick then comes out of the defensive shell and starts throwing some lefts back at VandenBussche. Kypreos lands a few relatively harmless shots to the side and back of the head, but then stops throwing and holds on. I think Kypreos may already have been hurting or dazed from that first salvo of lefts Vandy tagged him with, because he leaves himself vulnerable.

Vandy sees his opening and pounces. BAM, he drills Kypreos with a single straight left, flush in the face. Kypreos is instantly rendered unconscious and falls right down, landing face-first on the ice. VandenBussche stops fighting immediately and goes directly to the penalty box.

Kypreos, meanwhile, is out cold and in big trouble. He lays flat on the ice. Blood flows out of the bad cut on his face in pulsebeats. Nick's eyes are half open, but no one's home. Blood is pooled under his face. The Toronto players and trainers run out to him. It was a truly grisly sight, especially when the trainer picked him up and tried to turn him over. Kypreos' mouth hung open slackly as blood poured from his face.

Incredibly, Kypreos was eventually revived on the ice and managed to leave the rink on his own feet. He went to the dressing room for medical attention and did not return to the game.

Unfortunately for Kypreos, he wouldn't ever return, at all. He never played again because of the post-concussion problems he had from this fight.

Kypreos was doing alright in this fight, the linesman seems to ask a question during the fight, Nick keeps trying to fight and then BOOM Vandenbussche smokes him with a left. Kypreos is out before he hits the ice, reminiscent of when Kevin Stevens was hit in the 93 playoffs and fell unconscious to the ice face first. The scary part of this is when Kypreos awakes in his own pool of blood. You wouldn't know he was a fighter by seeing him on Sportsnet though.

Sick KO. People seem to overlook the start of the fight. VandenBussche threw about 4 or five straight lefts to start the fight. The 2nd was a hard shot that landed and knocked off Kypreos' helmet, the last was a really hard shot that stunned Kypreos pretty bad. Nick stumbled a little forward and ducked his head into Ryan's chest to give himself a chance to recover. The linesman sees Kypreos is hurt and gets ready to break it up, instead he says something to Kypreos, my guess is something like 'are you ok' or 'do you want to keep going'. Kypreos starts to throw a couple of rabbit punches, so the linesman moves away and allows the fight to continue. A few seconds later he gets KO'd. Imo, Kypreos was not ok to continue which is why he just stood there and let Vandy land the ko punch. If Nick would have let the linesman break up the fight he may have played 5 more years.

Scary. VandenBussche catches Kypreos with a left that drops him face first (usually a sure sign that someone is completely out) and as he drops to the ice blood is just pooling out of his head, I'm assuming from where he hit his head on the ice. I've seen my fair share of hockey fights throughout the years, and while I've seen guys bleed like pigs before I don't know that I've ever seen anything like this, not from a fight anyways.

Both going toe-to-toe for a second then they hug and then Kypreos throws 2 punches to the helmet then VB throws 2 and the second one knocks Kypreos out and the blood starts to poor. It looks as if the refs skate hits Kypreos in the head when he steps over him but I don't think it does.

Possibly the most brutal KO you will ever watch in the sport of hockey.

When the camera arrives at the fight scene, VandenBussche and Kypreos are tied up. VandenBussche lands two solid rights and Kypreos tries to grapple and tie up VandenBussche. Vandy uses his power to get his right hand free and that is when it hit. VandenBussche did nothing different about this punch then any other in the fight, except place it with perfection. Kypreos was out and dropped instantly with his the side of his face touching the ice slightly.

Medical staff and teammates rushed to the scene quickly. The staff was able to save Kypreos's life but not his hockey career. As that was ended by post-concussion symptoms.

Clearly, without a doubt, this is a KO, as Kypreos was in no condition to keep fighting.

I have the entire fight on tape, not just a newsclip, here's how it went. The two square off at blue line. They grab each other and start going toe to toe, both throwing lefts. Vandenbussche gets the better of the short exchange, he clearly stuns Kypreos who stops throwing and the two start to wrestle. One of the linesmen then goes and asks Kypreos if he's alright. I guess Kypreos told him he wanted to continue and the linesman steps back and allows them to continue. The two wrestle, Kypreos takes Vandenbussche's helmet off and lands a couple of noogies. They get some distance between them and Vandenbussche then nails Kypreos with a left that puts Kypreos to sleep. Kypreos goes down face first and blood starts pouring on the ice as he's laying there unconscious. One of the most famous KO's of all time and the fight that ended Kypreos' career.

i only saw the ending of this fight, which is also the end of Kypreos' career....Vandy nails Kypreos with an uppercut, and Kypreos is out before he hits the ice...he hit the ice face-first, which didn't help matters either, and he laid there in an ever-growing pool of blood...scary sight really

When you start to see the fight, VandenBussche fire a left, which miss, then Kypreos fire a right, then they trade punches for two seconds, then Vanden fire four left in straight which all misses. They start to grab each other, Kypreos try to put Vandens helmet off, when he failed he fire two short right at Vandens cheek. Put Vandens helmet off fire a right at Vandens backhead. Then they grab each other for a moment, then Vanden fire a left at Kyrpreos elbow and load a left. Aim and fire a heavy left at Kypreos chin, which get unconscious and fell to the ice whith the face first. When he lay there it comes a pool of blood from his face. Scary to see.

Possibly the most brutal knockout I've seen. Kypreos is a mess, as a pool of blood begins to form underneath where his face fell.

Vandenbussche had the edge from the start and landed a vicious left straight to the chin of Kypreos who went down like a clubbed ox and was unconscious in a pool of blood.
