| This fight was in direct retaliation for Nilan butt-ending Rick Middleton in their first regular season game at the Boston Garden. Curran goes after Nilan in the opening shift. Curran gets in a few punches as he pins Nilan against the boards, but the best thing about this battle is when Curran reads Nilan the riot act as the officials attempt to break it up. The two then yap at each other from the box, as they get ready to go at it later on in the game. |

| Lot of grappling in this fight. Chelios rips Courtnalls helmet of then nearly strangles the poor guy with his chin strap as he finally pulls the helmet off of him. Chelios also gets off the lone good shot of the night catching Courtnall with a right. |

 BattleshipRules 2106 fight reviews May 12, 2012 17:40 ET | Brian Curran narrow win | Fun 7 |
Nilan and Curran had a good rivalry going in the mid-1980's. The Bruins and Canadiens were Adams Division rivals and Chris and Brian were top heavyweights on their teams at this time. Nilan got off to a good start in the bout. He tied up Brian's right hand and threw some rights of his own.
Nilan started off throwing three right crosses. One was a miss. Two landed as partial connects. Chris followed up with a good uppercut. Curran was desperately trying to get his right hand free so he could get some punches off in response. Nilan missed with a few more attempts.
Curran was able to finally get his right hand free as his jersey came off. He landed a solid right cross. Brian appeared to just miss with his next uppercut. Then, he connected with a good uppercut. Brian missed with a right cross. After that, he landed another solid punch.
Brian got Chris in a headlock and the two started to wrestle for an extended period of time. Nilan was trying to get his arm free, but Curran seemed content to take a breather. Brian tried to get his right arm loose, but Chris got a good grip on his right arm again. Nilan landed another partial connect. Chris landed a couple of soft rabbit punches. Curran landed one more partial connect as the refs finally broke up the bout.
I rate this as a narrow victory for Curran. Nilan may have landed a couple more punches. However, Brian landed punches of better quality. Curran landed a few good shots in his rally in the middle of the bout. Nilan landed mostly with partial connects. Curran gets the nod by the slimmest of margins. |

| They traded rights at the beginning until Nilan locked up Curran's arm. Curran got off his jersey. Nilan tried a right hand uppercut but so did Curran who had his best moment of the fight just after his jersey came off. They wrestled pretty much for the rest of the fight, with sporadic rights coming from mainly Nilan, until Curran went for the takedown. This was definitely not a clear win for anyone. |

| In the rematch from earlier on in the game, Curran and Nilan go at it a second time. But unlike their first fight which really didn't materialize, both get off some good shots here with Curran getting the upper hand. |

| Curran does just enough to garner the win here landing a couple nice upper cuts. |

| Brian Curran took advantage of his own hands and overcame a strong fighter. |

| You have to watch this fight very closely to decipher who the real victor is. It starts near the net when Nilan just goes after Curran after the whistle. Nilan lands the first facial-punch but then there is a long lull where nobody lands a facial punch ... for example, Nilan is covering up so well, so that Curran never strikes his face during this interval of time. Then only towards the end, Nilan lands a head-punch followed by the motioning of an arm by Curran that may or may not have been a facial-punch. Nilan quickly follows that up with 2 head-punches, then that's when Curran bulls him down to the ice which is when the refs move in. Narrow win for Nilan. |
