Boring fight in front of the Detroit bench. It starts when Richter spears Kocur. Kocur would like to go after him but Corson steps in. Unfortunately the fight is a wrestling match and the linesmen come in before any punches are thrown. Kocur is still angry and doesn't want to separate and it takes some coaxing from the zebras to get them apart.

Draw no punches thrown by either man.

This one starts in front of the two benches, starting with Stephane Richer spearing Kocur with his stick as he goes off for a line change, so Kocur stands there waiting for him, but instead Corson comes off the bench and drops em' and they get in tight as both players throw 5 punches each with nothing landing, so the linesman step in.

They were tied up too well and didn't get to throw more.

For what it's worth, The Gazette gave Corson the win in this fight with Kocur. The camera gets there late but on the replay from a camera at the end of the rink, you can see that Corson rattles off about 5-6 punches before they start to wrestle along the boards in front of the Detroit bench. The camera angle and view on the replay is crappy, but you definitely see Corson throwing some unanswered punches. I'm not sure if this is enough to give Corson the outright win, but I would think it's enough to give him the edge in the fight.

Of note, this was Shayne Corson's 1st regular season fight in the NHL and if nothing else, it showed he was willing to instigate a fight and drop the gloves with one of the most feared fighters in the NHL in Joey Kocur. In addition, Corson scored his 1st regular season goal in the NHL.

Habs' Svoboda gets last laugh on old pal Klima; Czechoslovak defenceman stars as Canadiens throw blanket on Red Wings: [FINAL Edition]
By DAVID JOHNSTON of the Gazette. The Gazette [Montreal, Que] 23 Oct 1986: D1.

Corson's fisticuffs came in the game's fourth minute, after Stephane Richer had used his Sher-Wood in a manner Perron hadn't intended his players to. After butt-ending the Wings' Joey Kocur (the referee didn't see it), Richer skated towards the Canadiens bench. As he did, the whistle blew and Kocur crosschecked him in the back, but Richer didn't retaliate.

When Kocur followed Richer to the bench, Corson, after hopping over the boards for his first shift, dropped his gloves with Kocur and won a decision in front of the Detroit bench.

Corson's goal came midway through the second period with the score tied 2-2. He scored from the top of the crease after redirecting a Maley pass from the side of the net.

"It was a real thrill," said Corson, fighting to avoid being sent down to the club's AHL affiliate in Sherbrooke. "I was just happy to dress. Hopefully, I made the best of my chance."

Niland Landed way more, but McRae's Punches were more effective. Still give the win to Nilan though.

Good long fight. All Nilan early, McRae came back, but overall Nilan clearly outlanded Basil to get the win.
