Not a bad fight here between Nilan and Playfair. They come together by the penalty boxes and begin to battle for hand position. Nilan does a good job of containing Playfair early in the fight. As they grapple further down the boards, Nilan is able to get off a few rights. He lands with at least one and then catches Playfair with a solid right as he was switching to his left. They grapple again as Nilan fires a few rights that go wide and Playfair comes up short. Nilan does a good job of tying up Playfair in this one and the big guy is unable to really get loose. They keep a good grip on each other and the linesmen get in.
Good scrap with Nilan landing the better punches and walking away with a narrow victory. |

Playfair went right after Nilan. He missed a right hand, landed a partial connect, and landed a decent blow. Chris missed a couple of punches, landed a solid blow, landed a partial connect, and landed another solid shot.
Nilan established a lockdown grip on Playfair's right arm. Larry could not get any rights off for quite some time. Chris missed a punch and landed a partial connect. Playfair landed one more partial connect before the refs stopped the contest.
I rate this as a narrow win for Nilan. The key to the win was tying up the dangerous right hand of Playfair. Chris landed a couple of solid blows and a couple of decent shots. Larry only landed a few decent blows and partial connects in the bout. |

In this fight Nilan effectively managed to tie up Playfair so that the big Buffalo player never got going. Nilan even managed to land a nice right to Playfair's face.
Fighters rarely managed to contain the big Playfair, but here Nilan did a splendid job in neutralizing him to take the decision. |
