Larry Melnyk narrow win Fun
7
Melnyk and Nilan had a spirited action bout. Larry had success with his left hook in the fight. He got off to a good start in the bout. He landed a solid left hook and a decent follow up blow. Nilan missed a right hand. Melnyk landed a decent shot and a pretty good blow.

Chris was behind on the scorecard and got back in the fight. He switched to throwing left hands because Larry tied up his right arm. Nilan landed a decent punch and a solid shot. Melnyk missed a shot. Chris missed a punch and connected with a decent punch. He followed up with a solid blow and a decent shot.

Larry came back with a couple of solid left hooks. He missed a couple of punches. There was a clinch and the refs stepped in. Nilan had his left hand free while Melnyk was wrapped up by an official. Chris landed a couple of decent lefts and missed a punch before the men were separated.

I rate this as a narrow win for Melnyk. He landed the punches with the better pop. He landed some stiff left hooks. Nilan came back with a good rally in the middle of the fight. Larry landed a couple more effective blows to preserve the win. Nilan's left hands at the end were delivered while Melnyk was held down by an official. They should not count in the official scoring of the bout.

Good punchout between Melnyk and Nilan. Melnyk has the lefts going and visibly stuns Nilan twice where he ducks his head down and tries to protect himself. Nilan does land some punches himself, his best ones coming at the break where he catches Melnyk with a pair of good shots. Scapinello jumped the gun on this one and put Melnyk in jeopardy by breaking it up before Swede Knox had a hold on Nilan. Can't really blame Nilan here. The first of the 3 punch flurry came immediately before Scapinello's intervention.

Chris Nilan and Larry Melnyk drop the gloves and get a hold of each other. Melnyk lands two lefts at first and then Nilan misses a right before switching hands. They start trading lefts but it ends very quickly, Nilan threw just two and landed one while Melnyk threw four and landed one. Nilan switches hands and throws three rights, connecting on two and Melnyk five lefts and lands one. Then Nilan switches hands, throws three lefts, and lands two as the officials get in between them. Pretty entertaining fight. Win Melnyk.

I watched it again and i still think Melnyk won. He definitely landed bigger punches and i think he landed more than Nilan. Nilan got couple free pops in when the linesmen stepped in.

Melnyk landed a couple of bombs ... and Nilan knew he was defeated in this fight. However, Nilan landed a couple of facial punches ... but Melnyk outscores him with more & better punches. Narrow to clear win for Melnyk.

The two square off as Patrick removes his helmet (don't ask me why). Lemeiux greets him with a couple of hard rights to the nose.
