Jon "Nasty" Mirasty and Steve "The Boss" Bosse were two of the most exciting sluggers in minor league hockey over the last decade. These were two guys who let it all hang out and paid little attention to strategy or defense in bouts.
Mirasty got far the worst of this series with Bosse. He suffered several brutal KO and TKO losses at the hands of "The Boss." People can criticize the lack of hockey skills of Mirasty, but no one can question his fighting spirit and courage.
This fight was a typical rock-em sock-em slugfest between the two. There was little subtlety when these two went at it. Both started to trade right hands from the get go. Bosse landed a couple of partial connects with the right hand, but his accuracy was not what it was in his other bouts with Mirasty in the beginning.
Mirasty landed a couple of decent shots in the beginning. He followed up with a solid punch. His accuracy was good from the outset of the fight. Steve continued to land partial connects, but he was not connecting with power punches early like in some of his other bouts. Jon missed a couple of blows. Then, he hit paydirt and rocked Bosse with a hard right hand.
Mirasty took advantage here as Bosse did not try to hold or regroup at all. Jon landed another four crunching right hands. Steve was clearly stunned at this point of the bout and was eating power shots. Somehow, he kept throwing punches, but he was only landing decent partial connects.
Jon was getting arm weary after his barrage in the middle of the bout. Bosse came back and landed a couple of good rights. He was still missing more than he usually does in his bouts. Mirasty started to fire back after a brief rest. He missed a couple of punches. Then, he landed a solid blow.
The torrid pace started to slow a little as both men were getting tired. Both guys landed a couple more decent right hands. Bosse decided to switch to throwing lefts. Steve landed a decent punch. Then, he missed a blow. He came back with a couple more solid shots. Mirasty missed with two lefts and he followed up by landing a couple more solid connects with the right. Bosse missed a couple more punches and the refs stepped in to stop the action-packed fight.
I rate this as a narrow win for Mirasty. He landed better with his power shots and rocked Bosse on a few occasions. Jon got hit with a lot of punches along the way. However, unlike other fights with Bosse, Steve landed mostly decent blows and partial connects. He landed a few good shots here and there and had a modest rally at the end. It was not enough to erase the lead Jon had built up in the middle of the bout. Mirasty was "The Boss" in this fight and took the win.
Some people are dismissive of Bosse and Mirasty and the brutal leagues like the LNAH and the New IHL. This is not for everyone. This type of fighting is vicious, almost like MMA on ice. However, it takes a lot of guts to put your body on the line on a nightly basis. These guys deserve respect for being gladiators on ice.
Some people point out that the men likely were pumped up on "Flintstone Vitamins." Performance enhancing drugs have sadly become part of the hockey enforcer scene since the mid 1980's. Georges Laraque has recently come out and admitted that steroids and human growth hormone are pervasive even at the NHL level. Some cases are just more obvious than others. This is a sad reality. Hopefully, the leagues will clean up the drug problems and set a good example to kids.
This web site is dedicated to preserving the history of fighting in hockey. The top minor league enforcers should not be ignored. The courage of a guy like Jon Mirasty should be applauded. This is a guy who will fight until he is out cold on his back. He has fought multiple bouts with Bosse, Derek Boogaard, Steve MacIntyre, and Jeremy Yablonski. These are some tremendous fighters in any hockey league. Mirasty is as gutsy and resilient as any guy I've ever seen. He gives the fans a great show on a consistent basis. He deserves to remembered as a hockey fighting legend. |

The best I've seen this year, although both KO's by Bosse against Nasty were spectacular as well. Love that pre-game footage, during the warm-up, where Nasty comes over to Bosse and chats up a storm while Bosse remains cool. Then the video cuts to Bosse waiting for the massacre of the National Anthem to stop (the poor girl even manages to muff up the words at the end! The worst beating of 2006-2007 in ANY league, really!) Then the game starts and 5 seconds into it, they go at it! A T2T classic, like two machine guns; I counted close to 30 shots from Nasty and around 35 from Bosse, is that possible? Right hand no. 15 from Mirasty is what appears to hurt Bosse, but Steve comes back strong. Don't be fooled by the intensity, these guys have the greatest respect for each other. It's their job, and and they're just too good at it! Mirasty's best performance by far against Bosse this season, I give him a slight edge. Plus Bosse has a bloody nose at the end.
Mirasty has 45 fights under his belt this season, if you include pre-season games. Only Dubé has more, with 50! (These guy are sick!... and that's how we love them!) |

Round number five, between these two LNAH heavyweights.
They have been talking in the warm up and both line up beside each other at the opening face off, so everyone knows this is going to be round number five between these two. In the four fights previous to this the first two had been very close, but the last two fights Bosse had put Mirasty down in both.
Again they square off at centre ice, both have the gloves and helmets off. They come in at the same time and grab on, they start to go toe to toe both using right hands. Mirasty gets the better of this exchange, and he buckles Bosses knees slightly.
Bosse comes back into the fight after switching hands and he starts to lands some rights, but Mirasty starts firing back again and they go toe to toe again. They both swap hands a few times in this exchange, both landing rights and lefts. They both then stop punching and look at each other and smile, before the lino's come in to stop the fight.
Mirasty buckled Bosses knees in the first toe to toe exchange and was winning the fight, Bosse came back into it and the fight evened itself out. I'm still going to give Mirasty the narrow win in this one for the good start he got off to in the fight.
Narrow win Mirasty, in one of the best fights Ive seen. |

| Amazing fight. Toe to toe the whole time. Bosse is bleeding pretty bad and it looked like Mirasty was too. Draw maybe slight edge to Mirasty due to a couple hard shots. Watch this fight if you get the chance!! |

| It appears Mirasty's punches were landing a little more cleanly than Bosse's for the narrow win. |

| The fight of the year! I think Mirasty landed the best punches and he buckled the knees of Bosse once. But, both guys are warriors and they'll come back strong. Both guys left the fight in a bloody mess! |

I have edited my review:
"WOW, that was one of the best i have ever seen, if not the best. I give a slight edge to Bosse because he landed the better of the punches and had more stamina through the fight. Althought Mirasty did look really good in this fight too"
The first camera angle i had showed bosse landing the better punches, but i just saw the version on youtube. It shows that mirasty does land more in the 1st half of the fight, and bosse lands more in the 2nd half. Still a great fight, and i think too close to call |

| mirasty looked to buckle bosse's knees with a punch but bosse did not go down and got a second wind but still the advantage went to mirasty as he landed a ton of shots and bosse was a bloody mess at the end. |
