Orr skates through the neutral zone and Janssen comes crossice to throw a big hit against the sideboards. Janssen goes down and when he gets up, Orr is ready for him with the gloves off. Janssen follows suit and they start to chuck 'em. They wrestle for position and Orr backs up Janssen as he tries to free his right. Janssen has him locked out well initially but Orr works his arm loose and gets inside, landing a couple to Janssen's head. Janssen trades rights with Orr and they each appear to land one. They pause and move in at close quarters and then Orr switches to the left and they go toe-to-toe with Orr landing a little better, connecting with one to the beak and one to the jaw. Orr switches back to the right but takes some rights to the head from Janssen. Orr's elbow pad is down around his wrist and he switches back to the left but gets hit with a right and starts to visibly tire and hang on. Janssen appears to have a little more left in the tank but Orr keeps him under wraps until the linesmen get in there to separate the combatants. This was an entertaining scrap with Orr the aggressor early and then gaining a slight lead through the middle portion of the fight but Janssen's stamina keeps him in it and he battles back well in the end to earn a draw.

Janssen takes a run at Orr near the boards, he misses the hit and falls to the ice. Orr has the gloves off when Janssen gets up, so Janssen quickly throws down his gloves as well. They then grab a hold of each other and start to fight.

Orr attempts a few right hands, but both guys are tied up well and can't get an arm loose. Orr then does get a few good right hands in on Janssen, before Janssen slips his arm out of the jersey and throws a few back.

They come in tight again and start to grapple with each other. Both then get loose and start to throw punches, Orr using his left hand and Janssen his right. Orr then switches hands and lands two good right hands, but Janssen takes the punches well. Janssen then starts to land a few good rights of his own, Orr is still throwing rights as well. They again come in tight, and start to wrestle again.

Janssen lands a few right upper cuts, and looks the stronger of the two at this stage. After another right hand has been throw by both, the lino's come in to end the fight.

Good fight between these two. Orr landed a few good shots at the start, but Janssen came back at the end and looked the stronger as the fight finished. But still think Orr done enough at the start to earn a draw.

Draw.

Cam Janssen and Colton Orr drop the mitts and go at it near the boards. Orr throws some early punches, missing with all of them. They grapple for a few seconds, and Orr lands a couple of rights. He gets his arm inside and connects with another one. Janssen has his right arm free from the jersey, as they both start throwing wildly and each of them connects with two blows. Orr tries to land left, but loses his grip for a moment, and they get themselves in tight. Janssen scores one helmet shot, while Orr responds with one right to the helmet as well. They both get their arms loose, and the toe-to-toe action continues. Janssen connects with three rights, while Orr answers with about four lefts. There are no bombs in this exchange, 'cause it looks, like all punches land to the helmet. Janssen scores another shot, but takes a good blow from Orr right back. Cam's jersey turns into a mess which gives him some opportunity to land about three unanswered shots. Orr doesn't have a good grip at the moment and looks like he is out of gas. Janssen misses with an uppercut and lands a right. He takes a good left from Orr, but continues throwing and scores twice. Orr turns his head away and takes one uppercut from Janssen before the linesmen jump in.

Very good spirited scrap. Orr had the edge in the first half, but Janssen showed a better stamina and won the second half. Solid draw.

New Jersey Devils' tough guy, Cam Janssen takes a run at New York Rangers' enforcer, Colton Orr and Janssen goes down. Orr waits till Janssen gets up and then drops the gloves. Janssen drops his and they get a hold of each other. Orr misses a right and after some grappling, land a right. Orr then throws four rights, connecting on two while getting inside on Janssen who gets his right out of his jersey. Janssen then lands a big right as Orr lands a big right. Orr misses a follow up right and then Janssen connects with another big right just before Orr misses a right. Orr misses another right and then Janssen misses a right as well. Orr gets in close as Janssen misses a right. Orr connects on a right while wrestling with Janssen. Janssen then gets space from Orr and lands a right as Orr switches hands. Orr connects with a left as Janssen misses a right and then Janssen misses another right as Orr misses a left. Again Orr misses a left as Janssen misses a right but then Orr lands a left. Janssen then misses a right as Orr connects on a left but then misses two lefts afterwards. Janssen then misses a right and Orr misses a left, then switches hands. Orr then lands a right and Janssen connects a right. Then Orr misses a right, then Janssen lands another right. Janssen throws three rights and connects with two as Orr leans away. Janssen tries to get inside but Orr moves in close again and Janssen then misses a right. Orr switches hands and misses a left while Janssen misses a right, then misses another right. Orr throws three rights and lands one while staying in close. The referees start wading in and then Orr switches hands and misses a right as Janssen misses a right. The referees then end the scrap. A good, lengthy, bout between two heavyweights. It was a close fight and both were able to land quite a few shots and a couple good blows.

janssen took a run at orr, they dropped the gloves then orr started firing in rights, he lands a really good one that cuts the bridge of janssens nose, then the elbow pad got over his right so he switched to the left, janssen gets his arm out of his right sleeve so he can freely throw rights and throws some good shots, orr throws some good lefts too, great fight, i give orr the narrow win for best punch thrown that cut janssen

Draw. Janssen attempts one of his leaping checks on Orr, but Orr actually ends up knocking Janssen to the ice. A fight is inevidible at this point. Janssen actually doesn't duck and throw delayed punches in this one. He is forced to be in close and that results in his punches being significantly more inaccurate. Neither guy lands anything of power and IMO this fight is overrated due to the combabtants. Had two no-name/part-time fighters been in this bout, the ratings would be lower, but that is just my opinion.

Who cares about morons like these. Seriously. How do people justify paying these guys an NHL paycheque? Even an ECHL Paycheque? They have about as much business being in the NHL as Mike Tyson at Harvard Law School. If Iginla and Shanahan square off, at least it is two hockey players fighting. Howe, Richard, Messier, Ferguson and Orr (Bobby!!!!) could play and fight like hell! Not these 2. Thugs like these are a part of the game for about 20 seconds a night (not including the 5 minutes they spend in the box). And when they get hurt like Todd Fedoruk or Matt Johnson, they are just flushed down the crapper and a new stooge takes his place. From now on, unless I think the guy has some talent as a player, I won't rate the fight. If you guys want to, go ahead.Reply

All teams need a few tough guys in the team,And teams don't want there good players going out and fighting so they leave it to the Tough guys.Reply

Nov 15, 2006 13:24 ET
I agree that every team needs at least one tough guy. But the guy should at least be able to skate and not be an embarassment. Guys like Iginla and Shanahan can play and they don't get pushed around. Domi was the same way. But guys like Boogard and Fedoruk couldn't score in a whore house with Bill Gates Gold Card!Reply

So if Boogaard or Laraque or a Brashear run's one of the guy's on your team.Do you think player's like Iginla or Shanahan guys like these will be able to sort it out?I don't.Every team needs at least one guy who's there to fight and fight only.Reply

stop comparing these guys to Iginla you crackwhore...Bob Probert is no Jarome Iginla either so he shouldnt have been aloud to play hockey?

Janssen and Orr are both pretty good skaters which is why they are still in the NHL...they both throw hard checks and play a good defensive offsense...they arent in the league just to fight.

Let me put this very clearly. I don't have a problem with a guy being in the NHL if he has talent. And if he can fight, great. But he has to have at least marginal talent. Probert had 29 goals one year to go along with 300+ PIM. Clark Gillies was good for 30 goals a year and, as O'Reilly, Schultz and Hospodar would point out, was a pretty good fighter. Brashear went to the World Championships and did not look out of place on the US squad. These guys are good players.

Janssen and Orr have nevr, ever shown me that they can play. And Boogard? Check out his stats. How many goals has he scored over the years? 2? Let's have a look at his ice time per game: 0:30, 1:35, 1:25. If they couldn't fight, they couldn't get a job playing hockey in the West Arizona League. Good skaters? Sooooo, when the playoffs come around, they'll be in the lineup? Don't be an idiot.

Dude.Come On.Of course Cam Janssen isn't in the league to score. He is the 4th liner, but he can skate and goes out there and hits hard and stirs things up .I might have to agree with garvature about Colotn Orr,because he deosnt do much and he's not talented, but Janssen actually earned a spot on the DevilsReply

Have to agree with you here. A good fight in a game is okay by me, but the players should at least be fucking useful in some capacity other than just punching people. In the old days, you had to play a bit too. Guys like Dave Schultz could play a bit. They weren't stars by any means, but they could play a fairly regular shift and contribute. Guys like these and you go back to the Stu Grimsons, Tony Twists, Rob Rays and Mick Vukotas??? These guys were mercenaries, couldn't play worth a shit.
Joe Kocur was one of the scariest fighters ever in the NHL, but he was a solid fourth-line checker, not a liability on the ice.

If you put Stu Grimson on the ice, he better get in a fight quick because it's like the other team has a power play with that bum out there!

In the late 70s, early 80s, the three toughest guys in Hockey were Clark Gillies, Behn Wilson and Barry Beck, All of them were good hockey players.

Think about some of the others back then, too: Guys like Mel Bridgman, Terry O'Reilly, Bobby Nystrom, etc. all excellent players

Holmgren, Moose Dupont, Howatt, Tiger Williams, Willi Plett--they PLAYED HOCKEY, they didn't just fight people

The true talentless goons didn't start showing up until fighting in hockey became marginalized, in the mid to late 80s. That's when it seemed like every team had a Vokata or a Twist or a Rob Ray. The guys now are even worse, thanks to Tony Twist. Most of em are steroid monkeys these days, because of that idiot.

Downgraded to a rough because:

1. Not enough action to call it a fight
2. It's not an Almost Fight because a meaningful contact was made
